With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

In this role, you will join a team of battery and charging experts that power current and future generations of Google devices. You will research, define, develop, and bring to the consumers innovation on battery management, wired and wireless charging from concept to volume production to post deployment.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the development of software, firmware solutions and tools for charging and battery management from requirements and design through implementation and test plans.
• Lead efforts in design, development and support of software, firmware and device driver in the areas of charging, battery management and cell modeling for android, pixel, resource constrained environments and embedded devices.
• Debug and triage battery and charging issues, develop and deploy auto-triage tools.
• Improve observability of the hardware, software, battery and charging firmware by implementing new systems in areas such as telemetry, on-device diagnostics, updatability, and apps.
• Develop and share in-depth expertise in battery management and charging solutions.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Candidates will typically have 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• Typically 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with C, C++, and Linux Drivers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Candidates will typically have 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience with mobile devices, batteries, charging, or wireless charging.
• Knowledge of Li-Ion Battery safety requirements and Android tools such as adb, Systrace, Git, etc. Experience with Scripting, Rust, or Python.
• System-level understanding of mobile devices, including both hardware and software.
